Blackmouth Salmon (January-February)
Puget Sound winter blackmouth fisheries in Hood Canal and around the San Juan Islands typically produce good catches in mid January through February.

Puget Sound offers excellent fishing opportunities and our experienced
skippers give you your best chance to hook and land salmon.
Puget Sound is calm water and excellent for novices and families as well
as the experienced angler.
You likely will see Seals, Sea Lions, and numerous birds such as
Eagles, Sea Gulls and diving birds. You also have a good chance to see
Whales and Porpoise.
We like to think of the San Juan Islands as a very special place to
spend a day or evening enjoying a fishing adventure of a lifetime. This
fishing trip will take you into the heart of one of the most beautiful
spots in the state of Washington. It is kind of like being in South East
Alaska for the day. You will not find this kind of fishing experience
anywhere else in the state.

Charter boats will troll with downriggers between 100ft. to 160 ft.
on a out going tide using coyote spoons behind a 0 herring dodger.
Light Tackle Mooching is also available. This is a
fun, active, hands-on fishing technique. Here you will actively "work"
the bait at different depths. This type of fishing is intended for those
who like to cast, hold their own rod and hook, and feel the fish bite!
Most of the time the salmon stop the bait on the drop and you
have to reel as fast as you can to catch up with them as they swim
toward the surface. Mooching is a little more work, but a lot more fun!
By the time you get off the boat you'll be an experienced "Moocher".
All bait and equipment is provided. You will need to bring something to eat and drink. Daily fishing licenses are available at the charter office.
